John V. Pezzullo, CPA / OWNER
John V. Pezzullo established the Certified Public Accounting and Tax Consulting firm of Jonlyn & Associates in 1991. Prior to starting his firm, John's experience included over 18 years of increasing management, consulting and technical responsibilities with privately held businesses. He has extensive experience in developing creative tax planning strategies for privately held businesses and their owners. Numerous tax compliance and consulting engagements resulted in significant permanent tax savings for clients. John has a strong technical background, excellent analytical capabilities and a proven ability to interface with customers, vendors, attorneys, and bankers on behalf of his clients. While a supervisor at the national certified public accounting firm of Fox & Company, John was responsible for the tax and accounting aspects for numerous medium and small business entities including multi-state commerce. In addition, John was controller and CFO for a regional distributor and was responsible for computer services, cash management, employee benefit plans and the day to day controllership functions.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Society of Accountants, the National Association of Tax Preparers and the Illinois C.P.A. Society. John is also a member of the Tax Center and the Governmental Audit Quality Center of the AICPA. He is also affiliated with Genworth Financial Securities Corp. John is a Quickbooks Pro Advisor & Peachtree consultant.
Linda G. Pezzullo, CPA / MANAGER
Linda G. Pezzullo is the co-founder of the Certified Public Accounting and Tax Consulting firm of Jonlyn & Associates. Linda spent several years in public accounting with the national firm of Fox & Company before joining McDonald's Corporation. While at Fox & Company, Linda was responsible for tax, accounting and audit services for numerous small to medium sized businesses. Over her ten year association with McDonald's Corporation, Linda gained extensive experience in corporate systems, financial reporting, real estate systems, and operational analysis. Her past employment gained her recognition in systems implementation, franchise accounting and SEC reporting. Linda's experience also includes small business accounting, multistate sales tax and corporate income tax returns.
Linda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. She is a past treasurer for the Wheaton Junior Women's Club and the Illinois Gymnastics Institute Booster Club.
Mark Sommerfeld, CPA
Mark Sommerfeld is a Staff Accountant for Jonlyn & Associates. Mark founded his own business while attending college and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2008. Mark passed the Illinois CPA tests in 2009 and was one of 15 in Illinois who earned the ILCPA Society Excel Award for his high scores. Mark works in our business and audit department. He is proficient in Quickbooks. As a CPA he is also involved with our non-profit organization and ERISA 401K audits.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Degree from Liberty University in Lunchburg, Virginia. He is a registered Certified Public Accountant with the State of Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society and is a founding member of the 1Stone Collegiate Ministries at College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn.
Debra L. Mitchell, STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Debra L. Mitchell is a Staff Accountant for the Certified Public Accounting and Tax Consulting firm of Jonlyn & Associates since 1999. Debra heads up our payroll and bookeeping department. She is both a certified payroll specialist and certified public bookkeeper. Debra Mitchell is a QuickBooks trainer. In addition, she is proficient in preparing individual income tax returns and also Peachtree, Quickbooks, Intuit, Excel and Word.
Joanne M. Curry, ENROLLED AGENT / TAX ACCOUNTANT
Joanne M. Curry is an Enrolled Agent and Tax Accountant for the Certified Public Accounting and Tax Consulting firm of Jonlyn & Associates. Joanne joined the firm in 2007. She previously was employed for nine years as a tax accountant for a local DuPage tax practice. Her career also includes ten years in human resources, with a concentration in labor relations and benefits administration. She is presently in charge of income tax returns for professional individuals, and also specializes in working with Real Estate Investors, as well as the preparation of Multi-State and Clergy and Minister income tax returns. Joanne is an Enrolled Agent which means she has passed the rigorous IRS testing and standards to not only prepare tax returns for business and individuals, but she is also able to directly represent taxpayers and negotiate tax settlements with the Internal Revenue Service.
Joanne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Personnel Management from Michigan State University. She is a member of the National Associaton of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) and the National Assocatioan of Tax Professionals (NATP).
Carol C. Pociask, STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Carol C. Pociask is a Staff Accountant at Jonlyn & Associates. She joined the firm in early 2004. Her training has allowed her to perform data entry with QuickBooks and she is proficient in Excel and Word. Carol processes both Quickbooks and payroll. She is also processing individual tax returns for the tax department.
Monica Gigliello, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT / STAFF ASSISTANT
Monica Gigliello is a Staff Assistant at Jonlyn & Associates. She joined the firm in 2008. Besides maintaining a smooth running office she is assisting in the processing of in-state Individual 1040 tax returns. Monica continues to attend educational opportunities to expand her knowledge level and increase her job duties and responsibilities. Monica has been involved in small business accounting for the since 2004. She is a Genworth Customer Service Associate and works with John in the investment area. Monica is proficient in QuickBooks, Excel and Word.
Katie V. Bachi, STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Katie V. Bachi is a Staff Accountant at Jonlyn & Associates. She joined the firm in 2007. Katie has worked for area businesses since 2002 and is proficient in Individual 1040 and corporate 1120 taxation and QuickBooks and Peachtree accounting software. Katie has completed IRS and ILCPA training for the new non-profit tax returns IRS form 990 and works on ERISA, DOL and Non-profit audits.
Katie holds a Bachelor in Accounting Degree with a minor in Finance from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
